Have you ever wanted to explore neuroscience in your own backyard? I stumbled upon this great website backyard brains where they show you how to do exactly that. They have developed and sell a small and simple bioamplifier, the Neuron SpikerBox. It allows you to hear, see and record action potentials from live neurons in invertebrates. This simple technology has even been used to record from TSDNs in the dragonfly.
Pretty amazing, especially considering the amount of equipment and technology we use to do almost the same thing, and a great way to showcase neuroscience to kids.
