Even with a seemingly endless supply of cow manure, in variety of states of decomposition, we were unable to find any hoverfly larvae. We did however, find an abundance of hoverflies surrounding a small patch of yellow flowers right next to our parked Ute. Luckily they were still slow from the cold morning air and even without nets, Karin was able to catch many of them with her bare hands.
We plan to return to the Dairy again soon, hopefully we will have more success finding larvae then and we will be sure to remember nets!!!!
